Scanner report - Aug 25

Wednesday, We're here we made it to the island in the middle of the week. It's hot, there's a full moon, weird things are happening. Someone said they are going to stay in their house today. But people are not even safe in their own home. We learned that today. Tuesday morning there was a horrible accident and loss of life three people died after a big rig loaded with rocks or gravel lost its brakes and crashed into a home. If big rigs are going to continue to be allowed to go over San Marcos Pass then there should be a few more safety measures taken to attempt to ensure this type of horrible accident does not happen again. I heard this truck was double loaded but legal to go over the pass, if everything was on the up and up it shouldn't have happened. That's just my opinion. I'm sure you have yours, and everybody has theirs. As far as not getting things exacley right that I hear on the scanner. I report exactly what I hear. Many times the first reports are way off base.
The first reported location of the big rig accident was at 4129 State Street. This was because the first reporting party was calling from that location. The first report of the rollover accident on Cabrillo was 1100 East, and that's what I reported. It doesn't bother me that it was the wrong information that's what I heard. Someone just couldn't let it go. I had to say "Forgive me for I have sinned and come short of your glory." Because that person is obviously better than me. I'm glad there are people that are better than me someone to blame when everything goes to HELL. Last but not least the comment made by Edhat that we got the story first and how we are ambulance chasers. I constantly hear that "You heard it here first." From KEYT. It's really very annoying it sounds almost obsessive/ compulsive, why doesn't anyone call them ambulance chasers? The vehicles and equipment they have they should be on the scene of a story about the same time as the police or shortly there after. No one that works for Edhat has a vehicle that quick. Before I started writing as Roger the scanner guy, I heard some really serious things happening out there in Scannerland. Things that never made the professional news in Santa Barbara. I still hear things that don't make the news, although things have improved. And with that here's your

That sent a chill up my spine. 415 fight between several subjects at Canon Perdido and Vine, police unable to locate one reporting party reported they entered an apartment in the 800 Block of Laguna. That was it for Monday.
Scanner Reports, Tuesday
The first thing I heard on the scanner Tuesday was something somewhere about an 1144 I caught the tail end of something that was all. Then the truck into a home as I was trying to get that call on line I heard others, subject armed with a knife then a moment later subject detainned. I heard something about a shooting something like "She fired at him as he was getting in his car."
Then a call about a rash of burgularies of ranches up near Santa Maria. All three were County calls, and I heard them in between the truck into the house call. There was the rollover crash on Cabrillo I heard 1100 East but it happened across from the Doubletree someone kept saying the 700 Block they were right there so they must have known.
There was a 242 Assault male transient hitting his girlfriend under the Milpas underpants. At around the same time as the rollover traffic accident on Cabrillo, IN THE 700 BLOCK. There was a 242, Assault, and theft of a bicycle this was in the 1100 Block of East Cabrillo or the East Beach Bathhouse whatever comes first it was taking the police awhile to get there as they were busy so the reporting party or possibly victim said something about a gun then disconnected well the police dropped everything else and responded to the now emergency at the bathhouse. It was determined pretty quick that the reporting party made false statements that a gun was never seen. I heard no more about that call. That's a pretty selfish thing to do, say there was a gun when there wasn't one.
Carpinteria Ave. at Linden injury traffic accident bicyclist down. Chapala and Montecito there was a trash can fire. 10851 Auto theft investigation 1600 Block of Garden. Suicidal subject near Oak Park female 20 years of age heavy set near the bridge 300 West Alamar attempt by overdose in the past. 300 Block of El Sueno 242 Assault suspect 57 year old male grey shirt, red backpack running away on crutches, that would be quite a trick running on crutches but that is what I heard running on crutches in the 700 Block of Cabrillo.
There was a man with a knife in the 300 Block of State street it wasn't long before he was in custody. There was a report of a truck hitting a building on Highway 246 with the driver still on scene I don't know how serious it was that was all I heard. A report of a disabled person hitchhiking at the Roundabout, sounds like they were going in circles. Report of a possible overdose attempt suicide on Los Aguaries, in the 100 Block. A 415 Domestic on Ladera.
Another suicidal in Goleta missed location but subject was reported to be writing their will. Report of a subject walking toward Old Coast Highway carrying a gun in their right hand pointed toward the ground. A lost hiker up near Cathedral Peak. The last call was a group of people in the 4100 Block of State Street, disturbing near the accident scene, lookyloos. Will that is all for now I will see you on Fryday. Roger
