Pasha
updated: Oct 02, 2010, 9:00 AM

This is Pasha (white) and his best friend Rocky (black). Everyone always asks "What kind of dog is that?" Pasha is a Turkish Akbash, which translates to "White Head." Akbashes are sheep guardian dogs that excel at protecting flocks from large predators and have been shown to reduce both livestock and predator deaths. He came to me very shy after being through several homes but after a year he is coming out of his shell. He is a true gentle giant and watches over my 2 1/2 year old nephew and patiently endures my kittens (Wyatt and Coy) stalking him and eating out of his bowl. Unlike his brethren he does not have to work for his keep but instead enjoys playing at the dog park and Dioji, walks in the morning and lots of ear rubs from his family.
