Behind the Ol' Barn

It's interesting what ends up behind the ol' barn.
For the past few years, I've been shooting photographs of California coastal barns, from Humboldt to San Diego. They just captivate me; these mammoth structures that struggle mightily to endure the elements of nature in their fragile waning years.
What I've discovered are the interesting things that end up behind the barn. I'm guessing the conversation went something like this:
Pa: "Johnny, when you're done milkin' the cows, I want you to push the old pick-up truck behind the barn."
Johnny: "But Pa, it's a 3/4 ton. I can't do it alone."
Pa: "Do it, or you'll get a whippin' behind the barn."
Johnny: "But Pa, it ain't run in 15 years."
Pa: "I know, I'll tend to it soon. Now git to work."
But like photographing crusty old fishermen or weathered cowboys or sweet old Italian grandmothers, there's a certain beauty to the stuff that ends up behind the barn. I hope you enjoy the pictures.
