Rose From Around the World
updated: Jul 29, 2010, 6:42 AM

By Marc Liberts

I had the pleasure of attending Spiritland Bistro's BYOB Wine & Dine event tonight featuring Rose wines from around the world. All of the participants brought a bottle or two of local and international rose wines to share, and we were priveledged to hear from Norm Yost of Flying Goat Cellars talk about his wines and wine-making techniques.

We started by sharing the rose wines we had brought, paired with cheeses from Santa Barbara's local C'est Cheese. The dinner started with a radish salad, with orange segments, shaved fennel, red onion, sunflower seeds, & a light raspberry vinaigrette. The main course featured seared diver scallops over beet risotto, with dragon tongue beans. I found the beet risotto to be especially interesting and tasty. The final course was chilled watermelon soup with almond biscotti.

If you are interested in trying lots of different and interesting wines of a particular type, or you are interested in learning and tasting wines of a particular varietal or region that you might not be familiar with, Spiritland Bistro's BYOB Wine & Dine events are an excellent way to expand your knowledge while enjoying great food and stimulating company. link to more info
