Roger the Scanner Guy - 07/06/2010

Scanner report - July 5
updated: Jul 05, 2010, 6:55 AM

by Roger the scanner guy

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July, for some of you it's a wonderful 5th of July too. It ain't so good when it gets to the 6th or 7th though, not nowadays anyway. I wrote an editorial type thingy but I erased it. There's not much use talking about "It" anymore nothing changes oh well.

Here's your Scanner Reports, Fryday:

Over on Garden and Sola there was a fight brewing between a bunch of teenaged skateboarders. 10851 auto theft 2004 white Chevy Suburban CA plate 5FB6526 per CHP. 415 Investigation 600 Block of East De La Guerra. Three white males with dog aggressive panhandling.

A medical emergency on La Cadena 3 year old suffering seizures. Besides these things it was way to quiet for a Friday. It was like something was in the air but I couldn't quite put a finger on it, something was going to happen. I was waiting for an earthquake.

There was an audible alarm going off across from the Goleta library. A report of a German Shepherd in the middle of the road at Olive Ave. and Olive street, the officer couldn't get close to it animal control had to be called it had a red collar, tags.

There was a fight at 7th and Ash when deputies got there they were UTL, Unable to Locate a fight, then suddenly one was in foot pursuit I didn't hear the end of that because the scanner moved onto this Loud party with Fireworks 1000 Block of Cliff Drive.

Then to a jerk on De La Vina riding a BMX bike down the street with a knife out scratching parked cars as he rode past them. I don't know if he ever got caught so if you were parked from say Alamar on De La Vina to Highway 101 you might want to look at the drivers side of your car.

Over on Garden there was a loud party 1500 Block party goers were throwing things at the reporting person. Got a guy like that in back, announces to everyone he's going to have a little get together, a few people usually anywhere from 30 plus show up and they are all young disrespecting jerks! I really feel like cranking up some Black Sabbath on my 3,000 watt per channel stereo and blasting then all through the highway 101 sound wall, anyway wood chippers and loud party goers go together.

There were many Want and Warrant checks it was getting down right boring then suddenly there was the fight call on Voluntario it actually just sounded like a couple of guys mixing it up, then the neighbors starting calling in breaking glass, yelling bought SBPD code 3 to the address 229 North Voluntario. I didn't even know everything that went on, KEYT got the full story.

I heard the police say head injury, a lot of blood on the wall, man laying on the sofa, there might be a knife involved. The night went from nothing going on to major drama in a flash. That's the way it usually happens too. I miss the days more when nothing was happening, the Good Old School Daze.

Scanner Reports, Saturday

Woke up at 4 A.M. The neighborhood burger joint got me again it never fails. I made a BEEline for the can Thank Dog! I barely made it at 4 a.m. most people are asleep but there was a couple over on the 2400 Block of Calle Real having a 415 Domestic and it felt like they were both in my stomach UGH! Back and forth fighting...fighting...fighting. Most people should not get married. I've never been married I turned out all white.

There was a feller but the library had a real nice warrant an out of town felony warrant, just a harmless homeless fella looking for a place to sleep. There was a 415 check the welfare of a woman being stalked near Garden and Cabrillo this guy she had a protective order against was following her and taking pictures of her. I think wood chippers and Stalkers go together that's what I think just in case you care.

Beer Run in Los Alamos at the Chevron Station suspect Hispanic male taken was 2-12 packs of beer. East Camino up by 154 suicidal subject, dark blue 2008 Honda, something about the suicidal subject hurting their foot now headed to Cottage. Maybe he stuck his foot in to something trying to commit suicide one step at a time, that's how they do it in AA whatever works. CHP was requesting back up at 154 and Armour Ranch.

415 Argument between landlord and tenant on Berrywood. In the 2700 Block of De La Vina there was a head injury due to a 415 Fight. Subject detained at the Chumash Casino for 415 verbal. Kids throwing rocks at cars Salinas at Cacique. Check the Welfare at Modoc and Hollister for 2 transients face down in the street, never heard anymore about them. BONG!!! 245 with a shovel 400 Block of South Salinas what was kinda weird about this call is police went code 3, as did Fire and Medic's, they put a Be On The Lookout for the supposed suspect driving away in his VW Jetta, a few moments later it was revealed that the guy that left in his car was actually the victim.

There was a 415 Domestic in the 500 Block of East Haley involving an ex boyfiend violating a restraining order.

Check the Welfare of the elderly male, who has been beaten by his elderly wife who suffers from Alzheimer's disease. A neighbor took a gun out of the home earlier today. Suspicious subject near Canon Perdido and Maria street possible theft of a backpack, African American male 6' feet tall wearing a red backpack.

Around 2:06 P.M. Sunday July the 4th 2010, a car driven by an elderly male stalled in the Castillo underpants. On Los Aquaries a possible suicidal subject talking about taking an overdose. A guy named Nick who has a medical marijuana card over on Matilda in the Ellwood section of Goleta is smoking something other than medical marijuana according to one of his many neighbors. O.K. Nick whata smokin CRACK?!

Some one called a friend and told them they were being held against their will in someones home, I missed the location, but never heard anymore about it anyway. For dinner I bought some chops, corn, cherry choclate chip ice cream with sugar cones attempted to make potato salad but was too late, more for me, Belinda made a great salad. Our lovely neighbor Laura cooked the chops and corn. I contributed the salad dressing too a great coupon score from Scolari's my favorite store I don't care if it's not totally local I am and that's all that matters. Dinner was great but my body is making weird noises who needs fireworks? City police was on 5 gang types in the first block of Chapala. There was a smoke investigation in the 100 Block of La Vista Grande.

After 6:30 P.M. Medical emergency at Dwight Murphy Park near the baseball diamond. Someone called 911 and said "Come to Mission and Chino" then hung up.

There was a rock thrown threw a car window near Cabrillo and State street, after a short foot pursuit one suspect was caught.

Two sets of parents were lost momentarly but their children found them. A call came into the Sheriffs office from Los Alamos somewhere they did not know exact address call came from a cell phone, a young girl;s voice said, "My father has put his hands on me for the last time." I heard no more about that.

An adult was buying liquor for minors at the Walnut Shell. Large party on Mason 100 Block didn't hear if it was East, or West Mason. A man left his 80 year old mother in the car went into a McDonalds restraunt got some food came out his mother was gone. 1000 Block of North Milpas neighbors were fighting over a dog going poo poo in a yard. A call for the blood nurse must be a drunk driver somewhere. In the 800 Block of North Milpas there was a 415 at the Stop and Rob, possibly a clerk chasing a shoplifter around the parking lot. A medical emergency for a fall victim on the bike path with a head injury, near Marina 2. Last but not least a possible intruder in a home reporting person locked in an upstairs bathroom in the 1400 Block of Lou Dillon.

I took the scanner out with me Sunday night and ventured down the street to my neighbor, the D.J. of Milpas Street Rick's house and watched the whole fireworks show accompanied by Carlos Santana. It seemed like a pretty quiet July 4th. Thanks no doubt by the hard work of Santa Barbara's finest all weekend policing our little community with gusto! They really did a fine job.

I heard few incidents but expected much more. A couple young hoods threw a rock through a car window. Parents were misplaced by their kids. All weekend there's been the 242's assault and battery, 415 Domestics, drunk drivers, drunks in publics, but during the actual fireworks not much in the city anyway. I did hear a 415 Domestic in the 300 Block of South Milpas.. a few moments later a lovely lady walked by holding ice on her eye it made me sad for her. I hope the police got her scum bag mate.

I thought about writing down all the areas that fireworks were being shot from but that would have been near impossible to do.

All in all I think the police did a great job protecting and serving Santa Barbara this weekend. Hope everybody enjoyed the Fourth, Roger
