Carmel

We all know Santa Barbara is a beautiful place, but every now and then we all want to "get out of dodge." I was recently lucky enough to head up to Carmel. It is also a beautiful place with a huge white sand beach lined with Cypress trees and has clear blue water. The entire area is full of excellent picnic areas, art studios, restaurants, and parking, unlike places like, say Malibu, was very easy. And check out VRBO.com if you are looking for an extended stay in a vacation rental versus staying in a hotel or motel. Another great thing about this tip was that to the South of Carmel is Point Lobos State Natural Reserve and to the North lies Monterey. And for the golfers reading this, Pebble Beach is right there!
While the online directions appear to be a little tricky, it is not as hard as it looks. The fun part is that is when you get to Carmel you can drive straight down to the a wide open and top notch beach and say, "We are there!"
