CAT OF THE WEEK

Cricket and Sandy
updated: Sep 04, 2010, 9:15 AM

Cricket (Siamese, male, 11 yrs, a gentleman) and Sandy (Lynx, female, 3 yrs, a princess) are both rescue cats. I adopted Cricket first as a 7 year old and then six months later adopted Sandy as a 5 month old (having trouble typing because Sandy is camped out in my lap right now). Sandy had been raised by a male Siamese after being rescued, so they were excited to place her with another. They were pals from the beginning. I have never seen two cats get along better and are always in the same room together when they sleep. Most nights they are spooning together next to me after they clean each others faces.

The most exceptional thing is that when they play and run down the hall, Sandy makes the turn by "running 3 feet up on the wall" with all 4 feet! Poor Cricket crashes into the wall and gains traction again to continue his pursuit. Then, the order changes and Sandy is pursuing Cricket on the way back. They both are so good, they don't bite or scratch. I have never had a cat, mind you 2 cats who are so well mannered and social. Cricket is the first one to the door when the doorbell rings, who greets with a "meow" and a rub. Sandy is more tenative/cautious, but once Cricket approves the guest, she's next for attention. We think they are special.
