Basketball Courts
updated: May 14, 2010, 11:52 AM
I was wondering if anyone can suggest basketball courts that the public can use on the upper
Westside? I'm wary of going on school grounds, not because of crime but more because I'm not sure if the public is
allowed to use their facilities.

I think there's still one above the playground at Escondido Park on Calle Canon - Flora Vista, or try Harding School on Valerio.

There's A church around the 3700 Block of Modoc, I used to shoot baskets at. I can hardly walk anymore now, so no for me on A team.

"Upper Westside" traditionally means upper latitudes, or higher inland on the street grid, north of Mission Street. Lately, some have interpreted "upper" as higher elevation as towards the "backside" of the Mesa or up the West Valerio Street corridor towards Elings Park. Still, La Cumbre Jr. High School on Modoc Road has lots of B-ball courts that are fully open to the public when school is not in session for the day.
