Non-Profit of the Week: ResQCats
updated: Apr 03, 2010, 9:45 AM
ResQCats is non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, care and adoption of stray and abandoned cats and kittens. It was founded in 1997 by Jeffyne Telson. To date, ResQcats has placed 1,547 stray and abandoned cats and kittens in the last 12 years.
Kitten season at ResQcats opens on April 1st.
Every kitten and cat follows a medical protocol:
• Full vet exam
• Feline Leukemia and FIV test
• Distemper vaccination
• Worming medication
• Spay or neuter surgery
• This year we will also begin micro-chipping the cats
We also provide medical care above and beyond the usual protocol when necessary to save a cat or kitten's life. Unadoptable kitties are NOT euthanized.
Every kitty leaves with a health record, sterility certificate, a 4 pound bag of their current diet, samples of their canned food, a brand new toy and of course a big hug goodbye! We do ask for a nominal adoption donation which allows up to keep providing these necessary services for the stray cats and kittens.
ResQcats is quite a unique facility located high on the cliffs of Santa Barbara! The facilities consist of a large building divided into communal areas, isolation areas, special enclosures and large outdoor "playgrounds" for the resident cats. It serves as the temporary and permanent home of cats and kittens of all sizes and colors!
Cats and kittens that are available for adoption have their own individual enclosures. Each enclosure is furnished with a large crate full of clean, soft blankets, a kitty condo, scratching post, litter box, plenty of food and fresh water and of course, lots of kitty toys.
