Hope Arch

By the Dedicated Staff
Hope School has been featured on Edhat a few times in recent months. There was a nasty bout of graffiti on the side of an outdoor veranda which is just past the arch, and a Hope student picked up a fistful of hail
hail during one our our winter storms.
But we're guessing that you may not have recognized this arch unless you've sat in the Hope parking lot as a parent or grandparent, gone to Hope School, or taught or worked there. Hope is one of three schools that comprise a district separate from the Santa Barbara School District.
From 1977 to 1997, the school was closed due to declining enrollment. The first Hope School, a one room schoolhouse, opened in 1891 in Santa Barbara on Hope Avenue, giving Hope a long history of education in our town. The current campus opened in 1927.
