Janet Wolf Running Again

(Santa Barbara) Supervisor Janet Wolf completed the process to run for re-election Friday morning. "As chair of the Board, I will ensure that the County's business remains my priority, while at the same time running a vigorous campaign," said Wolf

Wolf stated she has been and will continue to be, "an effective leader who is accessible and works hard to represent her district. I am fiscally responsible, environmentally conscious and community oriented."

"I look forward to continuing to be a strong voice on the Board of Supervisors representing our community's interests," said Wolf.

Since her election in November 2006, Wolf has insisted on fiscal responsibility and transparency in County budgeting, pressing for budget hearings to be held early in the year, which allows for greater public input and responsible decision making.

"We have been especially challenged in the past three years, both by fiscal constraints and massive wildfires that impacted our community. And through firm and steady leadership, we have weathered these challenges," Wolf stated.

Wolf has led efforts in improving disaster preparedness, including facilitating a unique public private partnership to build a permanent Emergency Operations Center, funded in part by private donations..

She has led efforts to make oil companies, accountable for their impact on the environment, and has advocated for the preservation of the Gaviota Coast and More Mesa. Two years ago, Wolf convened a diverse group of citizens to provide input into the update of the Goleta Community Plan, which will ensure that community priorities are protected.

Responding to community concerns, Wolf has led County efforts to control the proliferation of marijuana dispensaries in the County and eliminate smoking on County beaches.

The election is June 8, 2010.
