The laundromats have become intolerably expensive, dirty and crowded, and I am looking for the best price on fluff and
fold. Help?

I have been patronizing Launderland on the corner of De La Vina and Alamar for over 15 years. I certainly recommend them. My laundry is washed, fluffed and folded and is always ready when they say. If I take in in the morning they have it done by the same afternoon. I do not know about prices at other laundromats, but what they charge seems fair to me.

Oriental on Fairview just S. of Hollister, near the airport is where I go when my washing machine breaks. They do a good job for a reasonable price.

Launderland by far is the best..and you can go across the street to Highlights Salon and get a haircut!

Have been using Launderland for at least a year and it's worth every penny to have them pick up and drop off the same day. I'm not sure if it's the best price, but delivery is key for me. I'd try Bubbles and Beans (funny that they retained that name) at DLV/Mission also. Maybe Ed can do a price survey/contest for avg price per pound??

My opinion is that if you are complaining about the price you have to pay to have SOMEONE ELSE do your laundry for you, then do it yourself.

We have been using Launderland self-service to do our laundry for at least 20 years. When we can’t do it ourselves, we have them do it for us. They always do a beautiful job and are very friendly whether you are doing the wash yourself, or they are doing it for you. We highly recommend Launderland.

Was someone complaining about anything prior to #56303's complaining? Did I miss something?

I'll bet you're right, ALLEGRO805, #56303 is probably just a troll looking for some action.

Hey Allegro and Deeker....obviously you two have difficulties with reading comprehension. "The laundromats have become intolerably expensive...for...fluff and fold" How is that not a complaint about the price to have someone else do your laundry?? Anyway, the laundromat on fairview next to El Sitio in Goleta is clean, inexpensive, and the place is hardly ever crowded. Quit complaining and do your own laundry.

The original questioner is the one saying "intolerably expensive". I thought it funny too when I read that in the original question and then saw that they wanted to pay extra for fluff and fold service.

Well, the truth is that once you add in the crowdedness, dirtiness, and waste of time, the added expense for F&F comes out to be insignificant, in my opinion. It's different if you have laundry facilities in your residence.

HEY 56351..................... obviously you have difficulties with reading comprehension!!!!!!11!! They were complaining about expense, cleanliness, and crowds of doing it yourself... not about having SOMEONE ELSE do it for you. Geez, go kick a dog or engage in one of your other fun pastimes.

I have to say that Launderland's price of $1/lb is very reasonable. I have seen prices higher than that over 10 years ago at other places. However, Launderland's top loaders are quite large, and can easily fit 15 lbs of laundry. Putting two loads of wash into one dryer, that equates to approx. $3.50 per load, which includes the cost of detergent / fabric softener. The average adult creates 1000 lbs of laundry per year. If you do the math, you will save well over $700 per person per year doing your own laundry. For that much money I will put up with crowds. And at Launderland, you can cruise across the street and have a cocktail at Jimboz while you wait.

To 56379: But by going to Jimboz you are wasting your savings, thus it all becomes a "wash".

Orient Hand Laundry on S. Fairview: I just dropped off a load of whites, 10.5 lbs. (My $800 4-year-old Kenmore washer is on the fritz for the 3rd time - another story.) Will be done tomorrow afternoon "after 4 pm". The charge will be $13.20, the slip mentioned $.90/lb so not sure where the extra charge is, maybe tax? Their minimum is 10 lbs. Just thought I'd post some more info here, hope this helps someone!

Hello All, my wife and I own the Sterling Laundromat at 3433 State Street and we offer fluff and fold for $1.25 per pound. In addition to offering free pick up and same day service, we feature a choice of detergents including 7th generation. We have all new hot water heaters, some new machines and have updated a fair bit of the plumbing. The fluff and fold gals do spot checks and sort your laundry by gender, type and size so when you open it up - it is lightning fast to put in your drawers.

I was browsing looking for a referal for a better priced laundrymat when I came upon this old thread. I have been using the one on Meigs Rd. on the Mesa near my home, they are so expensive. There smallest load is a dollar more then other laundrymats I have used in the last 6 months. I used to live in Goleta. I think I am going to try some of the other places named instead. A dollar adds up when your doing laundry for an entire family. I guess property taxes and rental fees are high on the Mesa. The facility is no greater then others I've visited so that can't be why it's expensive. Oh well, I'll check out a new place.
