Lanz-Mateo out at Valley Journal

Barbara Lanz-Mateo was fired by the Santa Ynez Valley Journal on Tuesday. She reports that the paper has had three editors in three years.

The Journal is published by Santa Ynez rancher Nancy Crawford-Hall and distributed on Thursdays in Santa Ynez and Goleta.

Lanz-Mateo, former publisher of Coastal Woman Magazine, had been with the paper for about 14 months and was first the managing editor and then the executive editor.

She wrote in an email to friends: "I was fired today by the publisher. That’s three editors in three years for them. Good luck to the next one. He or she will need all the luck they can get."
