Edhat Dog Goes Off Leash

Leave it to The Edhat Dog to steal the show! It wasn't enough that she was the Grand Marshall of the first annual Edhat Dog Walk, this year's alternative to the canceled Big Dogs Parade. But The Walk was the last event on a full card of miles on Sunday. There was lots of running going on, and she was quite upset that she wasn't a part of it!
So after the first two gunshots, starting the first two age-group races, she could take it no more. With a third gunshot - starting the 29 and under division -- she houndini-ed (we just made up that word) out of her leash and took off like a bolt of lightning down State Street in pursuit of the leaders. It didn't take her long to catch up. And she paced the winner all the way down the hill to the finish.
Her final unofficial time was 4:24, but considering she started a couple of seconds late and a block behind, we're pretty sure that she did less than a 4-minute-mile pace for the race. All that beach training paid off!
Two hours later, after a short rest (and a scolding by the dedicated staff), the Edhat Dog led the Dog Walk, pulling strongly at the new, tighter leash, and drawing the adoration of the crowd.
