Sexual Assault Suspect Wanted
updated: Mar 18, 2017, 6:15 PM

Source: Santa Barbara County Deputy Sheriff's Department

At approximately 5:00 a.m. this morning, March 18, 2017, Santa Barbara County Sheriff's deputies and UCSB Police officers assigned to the Isla Vista Foot Patrol responded to a report of a sexual assault that had just occurred in the 6700 block of Del Playa Drive. A resident called 911 to report that she was sleeping and awoke to an unknown male suspect fondling her in her bed. When she confronted him, he fled the location.

Sheriff's deputies and UCSB Police officers with the assistance of a Sheriff's K-9 team conducted an extensive search of the area for the suspect but he was not located. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult in his thirties wearing a grey colored sweatshirt.

The Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call the Isla Vista Foot Patrol at 805-681-4179 or to leave an anonymous tip please call 805-681-4171. You can also send an e-mail to http://www.sbsheriff.org/anonymoustips.html.

The investigation reveals the suspect most likely entered the residence through the bedroom window. The Sheriff's Office wants to take this opportunity to remind residents to make sure their doors and windows are locked.

Also a reminder: Don't go into houses that aren't yours, and don't sexually assault anyone.

Something tells me these kinds of people don't listen to people saying "don't assault anyone" That rhetoric is getting old. Yeah it's be nice if we could just teach people not to rape, kill, steal, etc but these people are always going to exist and aren't going to be taught so encouraging some self preservation skills isn't (aren't?) a negative thing
