I saw blue & white. Intense activity over foothills between Ontare & Hope, I guess. Better be police, with a reason. Shook my house flying beach-ward less than a minute ago.

Thanks for asking, I'm darn curious! If I find out anything from airport, I'll post.

I've heard the heli too but it sounds to be around Cathedral Oaks and Ontare area. I can't see it. I'm at 154 and Cathedral Oaks.

It's a blue and white helicopter now in vicinity of La Cumbre road. It says "pipe survey" on it.

By 4:55, it had moved so it was hovering over the Santa Ynez Mountains in the area of Highway 154. Now seems to be on the other side of the mountain. Must be following someone.

Now there's a small plain, east of Hope Ave. gone now, southbound. Doubting it was a police activity, thanks 659.

Why are people so paranoiac at the sight of one hovering helicopter? It could be a cartographer updating his material.

paranoic is a noun. I'm not paranoid, I get very curious when there's a helicopter over my home or within a couple of blocks, and it shakes the house. If it was a law enforcement action, I think there would be news. Yes, businesses have rights, and I know from previous issues that there are few or no height limits on helicopters.

I'm paranoid when I see an abnormally low helicopter and I know I'm foolish. Thanks for picking up on that "2017-03-15 06:22 PM". The last three times those choppers were circling this low over our area it was only suspect pursuit, with the last a mere home invasion kidnapping attempt. Silly paranoia!

Maybe he or she was picking up his kid at the school...

The fear mongering works ... every helo or siren is a sign of the boogeyman coming to get ya.

I'm curious when a helicopter flies over my house. It's usually very quiet where I live, so when something is going on I want to know what it is. Is that paranoia? I find it scarier to just accept everything without question.

I noticed this helicopter flying extremely low in Carp, the side read "Pipe Survey". If you Google it, you'll find that these helicopters are used to detect gas leaks and power line obstructions. Kinda freaked me out though so nice to know why.

I was golfing at Hidden Oaks yesterday afternoon 3:30-5:30ish and this same helicopter was circling and flying very low over the back side of the course. I figured they were looking for someone along the bike path. They made 3 or four passes and then moved on. Thought I'd check in the Ed Hat this morning to find out why it was flying so low.

@ 695 and 711

I'm a widow living alone and I like to keep my doors and windows open in good weather. I like fresh air and like to let my dog come and go as he pleases.

When the helicopter was hovering and circling low in the air nearby I would like to have been informed why.

If there was an axe murderer on the run, I'd lock up. I'm not so paranoid that I did lock up, but it's not unreasonable to want to know why unusual aircraft activity is occurring around my house.

Low flying helicopters circling are QUITE OFTEN looking for a "boogeyman"......

As a couple have stated the blue and white over Peabody and everywhere else mentioned is a pipeline survey helo. For future reference and to allay fears there are no blue and white police helicopters anywhere near here CHP black & white as SB Co. which also has a green & gold one and Ventura Co. has blue and yellow because they are painted Fire Dept. colors.
