Pedestrian Hit by Vehicle
updated: Mar 15, 2017, 10:26 AM

By Edhat Subscriber*

A woman was injured after a driver hit her at 9:30 am pst on the corner of Canon Perdido and Santa Barbara ave. She was crossing the road when a silver 4 door car with an older male ran her over, she fell face first in the road. He stopped and spoke with police, but wasn't placed in handcuffs. Seems to have been an accident. There were witnesses who spoke and gave their testimony to police. The victims coworkers were also on scene speaking with police and hopefully will notify the victims family. The victim kept asking for someone to call her family as she held her phone, so police took her phone and spoke with her coworkers.

First, it is not a 'hit and run' if the driver stays behind to talk to the police.

Secondly, your sentence does not make sense:
"She was crossing the road when a silver 4 door car with an older male ran her over as she lay face first in the road."

Was she crossing the road, or was she laying down face first in the road when she was run over?

Third, is there a question related to your posting?

The first poster provides more confusion than answers.

It's a report about something that happened in town, much like Roger's. It doesn't need a question as this person appeared to witness it.

Did someone else hit her and then the other vehicle ran over her as she was injured in the road?

Jeez, lighten up! Okay, so there was a little confusion in the initial story, but we all could understand basically what happened – which is far better than not knowing anything. Thank you, OP, for bringing us this information. My worry is that possible contributors will see all the criticism and just not post anything for fear of snark.

Whew, about as confusing as the report of the box truck vs car on 154. I do appreciate the info, but it's so important to be accurate. Accuracy is more important than speed in reporting. Thanks for the very good, clear update, OP.

Some drivers are confused about whether pedestrians have the right of way. Pedestrians always have the right of way in crosswalks and where sidewalks cross driveways. I used to work right in that area, and while most drivers are helpful, the occasional one who thinks drivers go first can kill you.

586, Does it make you feel good to try humiliating someone? Guess what--- says more about you than the one your nasty comment is aimed at.

Some people have no heart thanks for reporting this. I heard it but was busy at the time and forgot about it after I wasn't busy.

Such an avoidable accident! Everyone driving needs to slow down & look both ways & look again. This poor woman has a long way to recovery, but will still be impacted for the rest of her life by those injuries. Thankfully there were great witnesses who were able to assist her & give their accounts to law enforcement.
