A P-51 just did a low flyover OTG and landed at the airport. Does anyone have a photo of this?

That P-51 is now based here in Santa Barbara. You will get more chances to see it :)

Thank you, 06P. There was no mistaking the sound of what it was. It was the second pass that really gave me the goose bumps. Hope I don't get caught up on the roof yelling, "P51 Mustang!" on the next flyover. Thanks again.

I saw the P-51 doing low altitude fly overs offshore by La Conchita yesterday (Thursday) heading north. Tried to keep up with him by car, but the CHP frowns on 100+ MPH!!

Oh, I bet it's beautiful... Where at the airport are they parking it?

That must have been what I heard the other day. Thought it was one, but couldn't see it, so I dismissed the idea.
Cool.

Saw it take off yesterday, just after noon. The person I was talking to works in a building by the control tower, hears planes all day long and therefore didn't even look. But as soon as I heard and saw it I knew it had to be a WW2-era plane and I interrupted him to point it out.

Pilot needs to be careful flying low over any populated area. The P51 is a heavy aircraft (with a big engine) but comes down like a flying rock if it loses power.

My Father was a Mustang pilot in the ETO. He flew 78 missions over Europe and when he got back he joined the California Air National Guard so that he could keep on flying P-51's. His Wing was stationed in Van Nuys and he use to make several passes over our house in Pacific Palisades (at the legal height) when he was on duty. He would "waggle" his wings in a wave to us. There is no other sound in the world like the Rolls Royce Merlin engine. My brother and I would hear it and run out side to wave back at Dad. We were the envy of the other kids in the neighborhood! He died doing what he love doing, in his Mustang on December 7, 1951. Here is what that plane sounds like P-51 D Mustang Engine Sounds "No Music" - Merlin Engine Start and Gun Port Whistle Sounds
