Scanner Reports 8-15-14
updated: Aug 15, 2014, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Thank Dog it's FRYday again. I was watching KCAL News the other night heard about these Home Invasion Robberies going on down there in the LA Area and I got a weird feeling that these kinds of robberies could happen up here so I wanted to share some information about them. These robberies are committed by people who find out the victims' name usually by going thru their mail. They find out your name then do a phony delivery of flowers or balloons, gain entry and do a home invasion. In one of the robberies the victims were children. They were not harmed physically, there were cameras so besides the story being reported there was some video. I figure they might move to another area and continue the home invasions. Maybe here, you never know when something weird and unexpected might happen so it's good to be prepared like mustard.

They hit my Fire Hydrant again over here at Indio Muerto and Milpas. Me and Belinda saw it from our yard, she grabbed the camera and made a run for it I went and bothered Bo one of my neighbors. Thought he'd like to see it then we went over there to check it out. I stood about 20 feet away enjoying the cold mist like Niagara Falls raining down on my head then headed back in. Bo had asked me if they had the person that did it and I said "No but heard over the scanner it was someone in a white Tahoe." Later on he told me the police asked him if he saw anything and he said no, but his neighbor mentioned something about someone driving a white Tahoe. "Where's your neighbor now?" They asked him. Funny I heard the info over the Scanner LOL. It's a good thing he didn't tell them I was wearing an orange tee shirt. The description was changed to a white Yukon with a Asian female driver headed North on Milpas. I usually check parking lots when a crime is committed nearby. Sometimes criminals park until the heat passes by, then they make their getaway. In another case I was able to identify a guy who took off with his child after he took the kid from his wife who had custody. He did not get into much trouble for taking the kid but at least the child was returned to his Mom. I reported it anonymously.

Another thing if your house or vehicle gets broken into or if you get robbed of your wallet or purse, check garbage cans and dumpsters in the area. Many times the thief will take things of value then dump the rest. When I was a Dumpster Diver I used to find personal possessions once in a while sometimes things that are not of value to a crook are hard to replace by the victim.

Will it's the weekend; watch out there's going to be a lot of crazy people out there driving Reckless as well as Impaired don't want to get run over. When you see a drunk or reckless driver or a crime being committed, get a good description of the vehicle, pull over and call it in. If someone wants to be an idiot in their vehicle that's up to them but we don't have to put up with it. Many times I hear calls where the reporting party is following the crook or impaired driver around town while reporting their whereabouts to the 911 dispatcher. Many times the reporting party will stop following the driver when the police are close but not quite close enough and the driver gets away. Of course the reporting party does not want to be identified by the criminal as the person that called in the crime. They might get harassed, or attacked by the dirt bag who thinks it's all right to violate the public better to stay anonymous I think.

Will it's 5 Years today I have been doing this for Edhat. I dedicate this 5 years to my best friend Brad who passed away in March of 2004; a long time ago. We was friends for 23 years that's a long time too. I dedicate this 5 years because he also worked every day for 5 years to pay his rent. He worked at La Bamba Market as a cashier, and at Carlito's and Company as a parking lot attendant. He worked every day to pay his rent in a little cottage he lived in on the 1600 Block of DLV. When my gal and I were together he came over for dinner almost every night. We were good friends, us three. I miss both of them and I miss those good old days.

One time Brad was homeless and I took him in to the place I live now. I had work one day so he met me here when I got done around 8 at night. I was so tired from detailing cars all day, like 16 hours. I sat in my chair and drank beer. I turned the scanner and the TV on; couldn't do nothing else. I couldn't even take my boots off Brad had crashed out on the floor earlier. I had just bought the boots, my feet was still getting used to them but Boy! My feet hurt like Hell. It was real late when I finally bent down to take my boots off and when I did I made a horrible discovery my feet were totally blue! Not only that they were numb! My Dog I thought, I'm going to die. My feet has diabetics! Keep in mind I wasn't only stone drunk I'm a hypochondriac. I did not have a phone so I put my boots back on hobbled across the street and called 911. I had to get to the hospital to see if my feet could be saved. I guess when I closed the door Brad woke up and wondered where I had gone till he heard this: "Engine 2, Medical Emergency for a man with blue feet that are also numb. He is standing on the corner of Cacique and Milpas." Brad told me later that he knew it was me with those blue feet and he laughed himself back to sleep thinking about it. Me and my numb blue feet were transported to Saint Francis Hospital where the Nuns prayed for my swift recovery and the Doctors and nurses washed the shoe dye off my feet with cotton balls and alcohol. Boy was I embarrassed! Thing is though I'm a hypochondriac and can go at any time. I'm glad I was able to make my friend laugh before he passed away. It's an honor to be able to make others laugh even though I'm 5150. I don't mind. Everyone is something; I'm just happy I fit somewhere. Have a Great Weekend and Dog willing we will see you on Monday. Love, Roger
