Fatal Traffic Collision on SR-246
updated: Aug 14, 2014, 4:28 PM

Source: CHP

Type of Collision: Fatal
Date/Time: 8/14/14, 13:45
Area: Buellton
Weather: Sunny and Warm
Location: SR-246 at Campbell Rd.
Persons Involved:
Driver - Skyler Kindschy, age 17, of Lompoc, in a Honda Civic, fatal injuries
Driver - Jocelyn Presson, age 62, of Lompoc, in a Chevrolet Malibu, major injuries and taken to Cottage Hospital

On 08/14/14, at approximately 1345 hours, the driver of a silver Honda Civic was traveling E/B on SR-246, approaching Campbell Rd. (west). The driver of a blue Chevrolet Malibu was traveling W/B on SR246, west of Campbell Rd. (west). For unknown reasons the driver of the Honda Civic allowed his vehicle to cross over the solid double yellow lines, directly into the path of the approaching Chevrolet and as a result the vehicles collided head on into one another. Alcohol and/or drug impairment does not appear to be a factor in this collision and both parties were properly restrained.

The driver of the Honda sustained fatal injuries at the scene.

The driver of the Chevrolet sustained major injuries and was air lifted to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

The family of the deceased has been notified.
