August 12, 2014 - Super Tuesday

The supermoon has been dominating our skies lately. Tons of edhatters sent in their photos of the bright yellow orb in the sky. On Sunday, residents of earth witnessed the moon 14% bigger and 30% brighter than usual as it's on the closest point to Earth during the yearly orbit. This past Sunday's supermoon was the second in a trio of supermoons occurring this summer, with one having happened on July 12th and the next one to appear on September 9th. To have three in such close proximity is very rare and it is not expected that this will happen again until 2034. In general, supermoons occur on average every 13 months.

In local news, two Sheriff vans collided in Santa Maria, random power outages occurred throughout Santa Barbara and Goleta, and two suspects pled guilty to defrauding homeowners. Read these stories and more below.
