Is there a place at or near Vandenberg accessible to the public for viewing Wednesday's satellite launch?

Harris grade (highway 1) north of Lompoc - there's a couple of dirt turnouts on the Lompoc side of the grade - best view of south Vandenberg launches.

Also, anywhere in the farm fields west of Lompoc give good view.

It's been pretty foggy up here lately so Harris grade probably best bet as it's usually above low fog.

USUALLY above low (fog) but the (fog) in the early morning and late afternoon lately has been rolling in more as a marine layer, I doubt that Harris Grade will be clear. Then again, here in Lompoc it's a roll of the dice.
Depends on launch time.

Another perfect sight to view from afar, but guaranteed NO fog or marine layer is from the large water tank area atop Chalk Hill in Solvang.

How to get there: Take Hiway 246/Mission Dr. to Atterdag Rd. Head up Atterdag & follow as it becomes Chalk Hill Road. Keep going as it takes a sharp right turn & goes uphill. Make the next right turn onto Ribe/Silkborg Rd. Keep bearing left as it takes you to the top of the steep hill by the water tank that overlooks the entire Santa Ynez Valley. The view to the west is amazing!

If you live in SB it's much closer & a safer bet for optimal viewing than driving all the way to Lompoc &/or Surf Beach.

Launch time is around 11:30a. Peak marine layer time.
