University of California Santa Barbara's Business and Financial Services Department received reports of check fraud from several employees. An investigation is ongoing but has shown that personal information including first and last name, social security numbers, and banking information was exposed, resulting in identity theft and check fraud.

UCSB employee data breach. "Unauthorized access" to names, SS numbers and bank routing numbers resulting in identity theft and check fraud. Affected employees (including student employees) have been offered free registration with a credit monitoring service.
