July 31, 2014 - Mission Halo

A subscriber snapped this photo of a halo above the Mission at Tuesday's dress rehearsal for Fiesta Pequeña. A fellow edhatter was quick to share information about this optical phenomenon, a circumhorizontal arc. According to Wikipedia, this "ice-halo" forms in high cirrus clouds by plate-shaped ice crystals. What a great opportunity for a unique shot of the Mission!

Be sure to keep sending in your photos of Fiesta events. Go here to see a complete list of new and recurring events. Viva La Fiesta!
