Does anyone know what will be going into the former Blockbuster on the corner of Milpas and Mason Streets? Rumored to be Starbucks. Would love more info if anyone has it!

Maybe another Seven-11 like what just broke ground at the corner of Mission and State.
Off-Sale Beer and Wine License Application just posted.....there goes the neighborhood.
It will be interesting to see how cars can get in and out of that site...

STARBUCKS COMING TO MILPAS?
Wednesday, December 11, 2013
An unconfirmed rumor from a good source suggests that Starbucks is coming to 101 Milpas Street, the current home of Blockbuster. If true, this will be the first Starbucks on the east side (not including Coast Village Road.)

Noozhawk can be useful, though nasty. I read it for local news. It's free, News Supress isn't. http://www.noozhawk.com/article_/bizhawk_wells__

"A Wells Fargo bank will move into the former Blockbuster location on Milpas Street in Santa Barbara, slated to open in early 2015.
The banking corporation will improve the building at 101 N. Milpas St. before it’s able to open, generating six to 10 new bank teller jobs, according to Wells Fargo spokeswoman Julie Campbell.
The 2,619-square-foot spot, originally built for Great Western Bank, will be the fourth bank branch in Santa Barbara and the 11th in Santa Barbara County, Campbell said. Wells Fargo also has branches in Montecito, Lompoc, Goleta, Buellton and Santa Maria.
“Our goal is to find ways to better serve our customers and meet their financial needs,” she said. “One way we do this is by continuously searching for optimal locations that are convenient for our customers. For example, just this year, Wells Fargo opened our first store in the Isla Vista community, which is helping dozens of college students succeed financially.”
The building at the corner of Milpas and Mason streets has been vacant since January, when the area’s last Blockbuster location closed its doors. The news puts to bed a well-spread rumor that Starbucks was considering the location."

Restaurant Guy always notes rumors as such. He reports local reader input, just like Edhat. He also reports confirmed news. He has reports titled "Crystal Ball" http://www.santabarbara.com/dining/news/?s=crystal+ball

and "Rumor Machine"
http://www.santabarbara.com/dining/news/?s=rumor

He ends his Rumor Machine posts with "As always, this rumor might be completely false or a brilliant forecast of future events. Your call."

Can't get more honest or transparent than that! If you're interested in local food and/or business, check out his site a couple of times a month. He's a gem.

Another parasitic bank, sigh. They got money. Lots of it....including those $trillions extorted from the US taxpayers in recent years so the banisters could continue their criminal ways, after coming to grief when the so-called "free market" turned a little unfriendly on them.

A bicycle shop. No wait, a pizza parlor. A juice bar. Could be a wine tasting joint. A small news publisher? A bailed-out bankster co-op you say! Figures.

About those horses and stage coaches...the actual scene was a stage coach robbery, you see, which was then purloined into the tripe you now see on the commercials, white hats and all, some kind of stage coach 'delivery'. Remember that before you park your money near that staged coach.

Wells Fargo or Starbucks, or both? There's a Wells Fargo-Starbucks combination in the Richmond area of SF! Very odd.

I tried to use a Blockbuster gift card for a purchase at the Milpas location. It was after Blockbuster had been bought out and the cashier told me that Blockbuster could no longer accept the gift card as payment. When I complained she pointed to a rack of gift cards on the counter and told me I could purchase a new gift card and use it instead. Oh the memories! :)

Wells Fargo WAS on Milpas in what is now a 99 cent store next to (old Scolaris) Fresh Market.
It failed because ALL the customers just used it as a check cashing center and never made any deposits.
Friday afternoons, the line was out into the street and up the block with working folk cashing their paychecks.

Can we get it to become a family style pizza place and arcade on one side, and a chill dive bar on the other, please? Wells Fargo could have an ATM or something.

EZ2, news from Jan. 2014.

http://www.santabarbara.com/dining/news/2014/01/23/in-n-out-of-santa-barbara/

"In-N-Out determined that there are various problems with having a restaurant at that location, including the position of a stop light and the difficulty in getting a drive-thru permit. I’m told that there have not yet been any negotiations and that if a deal with In-N-Out Burger doe eventually happen with this spot it is a long way off."

I'm not an employee of the website or In & out!
