July 25, 2014 - Busted Hydrant

Roger reported a sheared fire hydrant with a 70 foot geyser on Milpas at Indio Muerto and edhatters were quick to send in photos of the scene. For some, this was a welcome, albeit short-lived, relief from the oppressive heat and even a few cars got rinsed off in the process! But this is the second busted fire hydrant to be reported this week and people are sad to see all that water go to waste in the midst of the drought.

In local news, the nonprofit journalism website Mission and State has been shut down, local newsman and Edhat fan John Palminteri graced The Independent's cover this week, and edhatters provide tips on how to deter skunks from backyards and homes. Read these stories and more, below.
