Which stations do you preset on your radio when living in SB and why? Which ones are your favorites?

ALL OF THEM.

Seriously, we need more stations PLEASE

I love going to LA because there are so many more options...even though we get SOME ventura stations, they are pretty sub par....

on the off chance this is a market research question, here are my presets, they are in numerical order (but not order of importance, because theyre easier to organize that way):
1. 92.9 A++++++++ love it
2. 94.5 A mostly good
3. 95.1 ventura station, bad reception, pretty bad, last resort, D+
4. 103.3 pretty good? B
5. 104.7 excellent for hiphop, A-6. 105.5 ventura station, okay reception in SB, not that great C+

..........you're welcome, SB

I never listen to AM. Just FM and Sirius satellite radio.

KCRW is my go-to FM station. Love the combination of music, NPR, This American Life, Press Play, and Warren Olney.

For satellite radio, I like the BBC World Service.

Live 105.5 (Ventura station) because they play updated music.....still have yet to find a local station that plays new music from today not from the 90s. Occasionally listen to NPR other than that strictly 105.5

My newish Nissan has a sound system with 12 Fosmark speakers and a radio that sucks in stations like nothing I've ever seen. It's MP3-compatible and has a CD player. Despite all that, I spend 90% of my time listening to KNX-AM, L.A.'s best news station. Otherwise, I listen to KCLU-FM, 102.3.

I think it's a disgrace that Santa Barbara no longer has ANY radio station that covers local breaking news. It's ironic that the worst local station for local breaking news is 1250-AM, which is owned by the McCaw woman and her News-Press.

There used to be an oldies station that I could get--actually a couple of them. 60's type music is what I'd like. I can't find any, either local or as far as my car radio can reach. Anyone know of any?

COMMENT 538819P agree helpful negative off topic

KCLU (102.3) NPR and local news. KDB (93.7) music. KSBX (89.5) music. KPFK (98.7) lefty propaganda. KTMS (990 am) righty propaganda.
KZSB (1290 am) with a cringe because of the owner but for nighttime BBC from whom she could take some lessons in journalism.

91.9 because college radio offers a diverse and wonderful spectrum of music that the rest of the stations typically don't play and it's fun to listen to amateurs. It's also fun to be in the studio, and not THAT hard to pass the FCC broadcast test. If you're interested, call them and ask what the process is to get your own show. (takes about 6 months, since you have to go through a quarter on KJUC, befor they let you on KCSB)

99.9 because it's the only station I get reception to for the entire commute I do each day.

94.5 because it's got the pop songs that get stuck in my head and I can sing along to, which keeps me awake on my commute.

106.1 if I'm up north because who doesn't like country? ;)

93.7 because I always want a classical standby
92.9 for kicks because it brings be back to Junior High

Since the question addresses AM presets, I'll specifically answer that question: #1 is KNX-AM (1070 kHz) for traffic and news and #2 is KFI-AM (640 kHz) for humor, news and traffic.

I have two sets of FM pre-sets in my car and one set of AM pre-sets. I never listen to the AM ones and often sift through the FM ones, depending upon reception. Most regularly, I listen to KTYD on my way to work in the morning. I also change to 101.7, 106.3 (out of Ventura) and 95.9 (out of Ventura) as reception permits. Sometimes I also can get 94.7 and 95.1 -- I like classic rock!

KZSB AM 1290 certainly has the best local show on radio live at 11 AM every Wednesday, rebroadcast again at 9 PM every Wednesday night and rebroadcast again at 9 AM every Saturday morning.

It is also the longest running locally produced radio show in Santa Barbara.

I wish local radio were better because I would listen more but here goes:
101.7 - Smarmy DJ's esp the dude at 10am (you don't have to fill every non-musical second with inane yap), a good tune or 2. The Delilah chick bugs.
99.9 - Too much Floyd but genuinely decent morning show and news
95.9 - The 80's - way too much main stream but the occasional gem - let loose with The Smiths please.
104.7 - 103.3's funkier, fresher cousin - the 'Nard bites back.
95.1 - The VC main stream - plays rare tracks sometimes
92.3 - Reception is a little spotty but this LA station has great R&B - piles of commercials though.
I like a lot of variety - you work with what you have.

KTYD? Their broken record only plays Led Zeppelin, Santana, Rush, and the Police. Morning show has sucked ever since Matthew in the Morning left, or maybe Matt McAllister after him.

KJEE? Ever since they dropped Kevin & Bean in the morning, I pretty much stopped listening to them too.

Nowadays, if I'm not listening to 105.9 Krazy Country (SYV), my radio is set to "iPod" so I can listen to Pandora. It's like SiriusXM without the $18.99/month fee.

I tune to 990 more often than not. Yes, 210, "seriously"
According to most rating systems, so are many many others.
I don't get too fired up politically with those i disagree with; so I will save that venom for real debate.
I listened to air America when it was on and I think it's called air Pacifica radio for balance but it was just boring and predictable so stopped.

This was an extremely helpful question, thank you. I have a manual radio in the house, and am constantly finding a good music site and then losing it again by changing the dial -- or listening and listening for the call numbers and finally giving up. Note to stations if you're reading this, please give out your call letters AND numbers AND if AM or FM about four times an hour, thank you. We'll love you for it.

Agree with 063...... I listen to KTYD when Rick Williams is on. He knows how to "program" music that goes together in a set of songs and when he speaks it is to inform about the music. David Perry is just in love with hearing his own voice drone on about nothing.
