Tar-filled Beach
updated: Jul 23, 2014, 1:23 PM

DO NOT swim at Goleta Beach today! There are 1/8" to 2" globs of tar, as well as "puddles" of goo floating on the surface, everywhere from the beach, out to the end of the pier, and along the buoys towards UCSB. Several of the usual lunchtime swim group went out; most cut their swim short, and a few came in with arms and necks literally covered with oil and tar. Hopefully it will clear up soon. Yesterday, by comparison, was crystal clear.
