Body Found at Lake Cachuma

Cachuma Lake- Ten days after he went missing in Cachuma Lake, the body of 22-year-old Isaiah Sanchez of El Rio was found just after noon today, July 21, about one hundred yards from where he was last seen going underwater. A group of citizens who were on a rented pontoon boat spotted what appeared to be a body in the lake and called 9-1-1. County Park Rangers, Sheriff’s deputies and a Sheriff’s Coroner’s detective responded. The body was transported by boat to the shore where a positive identification was made.

The cause and manner of death is pending the completion of the Coroner’s investigation which will include an autopsy and toxicology results.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office are responding to a body found at Lake Cachuma.

Ten days ago 22-year-old Isaiah Sanchez of El Rio, California went missing in the lake. Santa Barbara County Air Support Unit has been conducting periodic flyovers of the area. The Sheriff's Dive Team has also searched to water but struggled against low visibility. County Park Rangers conducted surface patrols by boat using sonar equipment.

According to KEYT, a male body was discovered around 12:25 p.m. near a section of the lake called Cachuma Bay.
