Scanner Reports 7-18-14
updated: Jul 18, 2014, 7:00 AM

By Roger the Scanner Guy

Finally FRYday. I think the City of Santa Barbara would benefit from a small group of on call volunteer Spanish Translators when it comes to emergency responder calls. It seems there is not always someone available to translate between the person calling in the emergency and responders. The other night I heard what sounded like a water rescue at Stearns Wharf. The reporting person stated that their loved one entered the water to go for a swim and had not been seen for 5 minutes. There was a full fire response including a rescue swimmer dispatched to Stearns Wharf several requests were made for a Spanish Translator because there was some difficulty understanding the caller who was on the sand on a cell phone. Everyone requested to respond was there I'm not so sure a translator ever got there. I think a police officer was able to translate enough but it turned out this wasn't a water rescue. The man had never gone into the water. When found, he was on the beach closer to Milpas walking back from there toward the wharf. He was having cramps; it became a medical emergency for cramps; that's probably what it was all along. Had there been a translator available in the first place perhaps a full response would not have been necessary. Just my opinion.

I heard this other thing this morning a call on an RV complaint the Infamous Illegal Camping Call. Guy in an RV littering. Folks wanted him gone been camping several days on-going problem. Heard what he was doing is not illegal. So now I'm wondering why the Illegal Camping Law is enforced? So is it not illegal to sleep in an RV on the streets of Santa Barbara? Or in a sleeping bag on the streets of Santa Barbara? What is it? Are these laws not being enforced because of a group of liberal big wigs? Or the ACLU? I'd really like to know for my own information. I'm sure there are others that would like to know also. I know there's something there with the Illegal Camper calls I hear so many. As far as thinking it's totally legal to sleep anywhere one wants there's also the 602pc or Trespassing. So ya just can't decide to crash out in someone's yard and take a big POOPY!

Anyway, I have to make changes I'm not taking care of myself. Not really sure how I got shingles a 2nd time so close to the last time but they are there. I do have health issues and I'm not one to practice good healthy ways. Now that Belinda is, she's giving me the look and we're not even married. Although considering the FACT I've been a born again virgin for 12 years; that is like marriage from what I've heard so maybe we are. I woke up Thursday morning with both ankles swelled; my hands also felt swollen, my hands hurt and so did my shoulder, also my jaw. The Jaw probably from chewing gum. I constantly chew gum and I never wear my teeth. I'm uncomfortable wearing the teeth. I don't know why my hands and shoulder hurt but it could be from the shingles. My ankles probably swelled because I eat too much salt and have HBP. Anyway I have to stop screwing around I kinda wanna stick around awhile longer. Thing is, food is expensive, but the cheaper food has salt in it. But I need to be good for myself so once again I'm going to try.
