1960's Glass Replacement
updated: Jul 16, 2014, 9:22 AM

By Edhat Subscriber

Need a referral to help replace a broken 1960's 4x2 ft sheet of single pane glass in our aluminum framed window. Home depot doesn't seem to carry that length. Thanks.

Callendar's Glass on De La Vina
Santa Barbara Phone: (805) 687-2453

I bought two pieces of glass (one small & one large) from them a few years back. They were very easy to work with

OSH cuts glass to any size you need, and they're fairly cheap too.

Before you spend time on an inefficient and obsolete window, you should think about a dual pane replacement.

Yes, Callender's House of Glass on De La Vina. They recently cut several pieces of glass for me for windows and a 1/4" thick piece of glass for a coffee table. Very reasonable and easy to work with.

SB Home Improvement Center will cit them for you. Measure the exact dimensions as the pane is usually slightly smaller than the opening. Measure the thickness of the glass too as there are a few thicknesses to choose from .

Try calling a shop that sells glass - they have glass cut to any size you need...I "Googled" 'glass replacement santa barbara' and miraculously came up with the names of 7 glass shops in Santa Barbara. I personally would recommend A&B Glass.

I also call A&B glass for solarium window replacement. They come out to measure and come back to replace.
