Bone dry since May. (Unless you count the putrid, stagnant, sock-and-band-aid-filled lower puddle that people still seem to like to soak their feet in...)

7-Falls used to flow year-round, along with other parts of Mission Creek, before the Mission Tunnel was installed in the 1910's. The Tunnel acts as a French Drain and sucks about 1,000 acre-feet of water per year from the mountain, depleting the springs that once fed a perennial Mission Creek. Read more in historian Walker Thompkins missives.
People used to go to Fern Falls for summer picnics before the creek water was siphoned off. Now it goes dry and the endangered steelhead trout are left with essentially no suitable rearing habitat in Mission Creek. Hopefully the drought will end this winter.
