Finally! Our hometown burger receives the recognition and admiration it deserves. Santa Barbara has
known for years that The Habit Burger Grill consistently provides delicious food at a great price. Right now
the whole world has been informed as our beloved Habit gained national attention for topping Consumer Reports list of
best burger in a fast-food restaurant.
Habit beat out some worthy competitors like In-N-Out and Five Guys, both are pretty delicious but they
don't have the signature char. The bottom of the burger list included fast food heavy-weights (pun
intended) such as, Burger King, Jack in the Box, and McDonalds. The full list from Consumer Reports is provided below.
Clearly, Santa Barbara locals are not surprised by this rating. In fact, we looked through the edhat vault and
found an article from
2006 where subscribers rated the best food in town. Under "Best Burgers" the Habit demolished its
competition by receiving the majority of votes. My Facebook feed has been blowing up with photos of these tasty burgers. Business Insider wrote an article titled "A Burger Chain You've
Probably Never Heard Of Was Just Named Best In America." Yes, we have heard of it and we're proud to say it started right here! The author calls the
restaurant "an obscure burger chain," and she might be right. SB locals tend to pride themselves on keeping some of the best-kept secrets in town. Beaches,
surf, taco bars, tasting rooms, and now burgers.
According to The Habit's
website, the famous charburger has been around for 45 years. Founded in Goleta, the original Habit
opened its doors in 1969 where it still sits today at 5735 Hollister Ave.
