HVAC Service
updated: Jul 09, 2014, 1:10 PM

We need furnace (HVAC) service. Does anyone have some current experience with the local service companies. Costco has a rep in the store from ONE HOUR Heating, never heard of them? What to do!!!

Barrett Air is the best in town, it's not even a question. Quality guy and a great crew.

I had them out for an estimate, which was way out of line compared to the three other companies I also had bid. What they were suggesting was way overkill for SB, where I use my heater a few months of the year at best. I went with a local company who charged me $2500. ; One Hour estimate was $5000-$7000. And the salesman would not put in writing exactly what I would be getting. Odd experience. I was surprised and disappointed that Costco has this company as a partner.

Crocker Heating and Air. I started using them about 9 years ago when I called them after the 4 others wanted to sell me a new unit. They fixed it for about $100 and it is still running perfectly as are the others they have serviced.

Bickel's out of Santa Maria serviced our furnace in Hope Ranch. Rather than sell us a new one, he repaired it and installed a new thermostat. Unit has been working past four years problem free. Dave Bickel charged us much less than I expected. Thus, my recommendation.

After shopping around I chose Crocker. They are currently installing new heating units in a rental and new heat/AC in my primary home. They are the reasonably priced, reliable, and some of the nicest guys you'll meet.

Ralph Murillo and his son Matt. They did a fabulous job on replacing the original heating system on our 67 year old home.

There is not enough room here to recount the nightmare experience we had with "All Weather".
Needless to say the mantra of Ed Hat, "If you have nothing nice to say, best to say nothing at all" is appropriate here.
