July 8, 2014 - Hummingbird Madness

Edhat is known around town as the go-to website for anything and everything that's going on in Santa Barbara. We proved that yet again on Monday morning with Roger the Scanner Guy breaking the story of a Montecito man threatening to blow up his residence. Part of Coast Village Road was sectioned off and reinforcements were called in as Roger recounted events on the comment board. Thankfully no one was injured and the man was taken into custody. The full press release can be read here.

Aside from breaking news stories, another goal of edhat is to bring the community together. That happened recently when subscribers Aquaholic and Mountainman connected through edhat to snap photos of a hummingbird frenzy at Painted Cave. Check out Aquaholic's fantastic photos here.

In more local news, a text alert system is available for red flag wind warnings, a new restaurant opened up on the Mesa, and edhatters discuss the code and ethics of house-sitting. Read these stories and more, below.
