Today's Weather - Areas of low clouds and fog in the morning then sunny. Highs in the mid 60s to mid 70s except the mid to upper 80s in the hills. West winds around 15 mph in the afternoon.

July 7, 2014 : 7+7=14

Today's date is a fun equation that fellow counting and math nerds can collectively geek out over. 7 + 7 =14, it sure does. Ed wonders if others 100 years ago shared a similar chuckle as we are today. Did Albert Einstein write the date July 7, 1914 during his research and laugh to himself? We certainly hope so. That way Ed and Albie would have more than one thing in common.

In our photo of the day, an edhat subscriber saw a man and his two mules on Saturday. They are currently traveling to Los Angeles and stopped in Santa Barbara for a night. Want to learn more about this nomadic group? They have a Facebook page (search 3 mules) as well as a webisite and blog.

In local news, aggressive hummingbirds (there IS such a thing) were talked about, edhatters reported water being turned off in the Fairview area of Goleta, and Charles Brewster snapped photos of two raptors playing in the tree tops. Read these stories and more below.
