Monday-Monday. I hope y' all had a wonderful weekend and stayed outta trouble. Coppers were busy running people for wants and warrants and sweeping drunks off the streets. It seems It's Summer Time in Santa Barbara. Sure is hot sweltering heat in my place feels tropical. I wish it would rain. I hate sweating all the time. I feel like I'm swimming in my shorts. My last drunk I passed out in a few areas of town mostly around the 2000 Block of DLV. Now it seems like people are down all over the place sleeping it off. The tragic thing is they are not all drunks some are medical emergencies, and if not checked out soon they can die, as one fella did on Saturday. The police do their best checking everyone out; they are busy as HELL just taking care of the drunks. Yea there are calls where you see the police "Just standing around" As if they are waiting for the Donut Store to open but before you criticize too much, try wearing their shoes for a while. Do a ride along you'll see and maybe experience a little of what they do for yourself.
I worked as a guard here for a few years and had some crazy experiences. Seemed like working the parks during Fiesta was always cool probably wouldn't be any more. I got beat up by gang members at the West Side Boys Club back in 1988, had a 5150 resident of S.B. pull a butcher knife on me at the Galleria. He used to cook at Frimples; I guess he liked carrying his tools around with him. Had some guy try to stick me with a knife at Los Conchos on East Haley. I got in a few push and shove matches I did some things on my own where I should have called the police because I thought I was hot Poop. Whenever I start thinking how easy a cop's job is driving around in a car all day munching on donuts I remember those days when I was a security guard which is not even close to what a Copper goes thru, not even close.
I remember back a little over a year ago someone wrote in asking the question of Edhatters what the HOOD around Oak Park was like because they was thinking about moving there. Most of the responses said it was fine. I hear a lot more calls in that area now than I used to and I'm wondering if the Oak Park area is still a nice HOOD or is it going to HELL? I wonder if people still play tennis on the tennis courts there or have the Tennis Courts been taken over by campers? It sure sounds a lot different now than it did then. The Samarkand area seems like it has its troubles too.
