By the Dedicated Staff of edhat.com

Local artist David Diamant posted the below video and statement on YouTube stating the AMASS [Artists Making A Street Scene] Gallery in the Funk Zone on Mason and Helena Streets was shut down this past weekend. The Independent reports that the building manager and police prevented the artists from painting on Friday afternoon. Read Diamant's statement below:

"On 06.20.14 artists gathered at the AMASS Gallery in the Funk Zone in Santa Barbara, CA to install new murals. Something went wrong. The project got shut down and the artists were not allowed to paint. (AMASS Gallery has shown 100s of artists since 2009. Building has been scheduled for demolition in a few weeks. This was to be the last round of murals.) whatdayagonnado. www.davidjdiamant.com"
