Fire Truck Blamed for Crash
updated: Jun 24, 2014, 8:02 AM

A county fire truck driver was found at fault for a head-on collision in Goleta earlier this month.

On June 1st an edhat subscriber reported the traffic accident on Calle Real between Carlo Dr. and La Patera involving a fire truck and Mercedes.

Santa Barbara County Sheriff's conducted an investigation and found the driver of the fire truck at fault. The truck was turning left onto Valdez Ave when it struck the Mercedes who was traveling north on Calle Real. The 18-year-old Isla Vista woman driving the sports care was not injured, but the car was totaled. The driver of the fire truck was also uninjured and the truck was dented.

County Fire Department said the fire truck driver will be taking a risk management class and their department would use the incident for learning purposes.
