Moon Pies
updated: Jun 23, 2014, 2:09 PM

Does anyone know where to get cases of Moon Pies in Santa Barbara or Goleta? We have a vintage trailer and a retro looking sign that reads; Moon Pies five cents. I have a case, but have no idea where to get more, and would love to hand some out at a vintage trailer rally we will be attending this weekend.

It's a little bit of a drive but the Kingston's Candy Co. in Ojai has them. This is the same family that had a short-lived Kingston's Candy Co. on Upper State a while back. Not the cheapest place to get them but you can't beat the customer service there. They are right on the main drag in downtown Ojai.

I called Smart & Final. Regular size Moon Pies are $4.99/package (they didn't say how many are included, but I have a feeling that they aren't 5 cents apiece). They have another package for $9.99, but she seemed to think they were smaller individual pies than the regular size. Hope this helps.

Ode to the Moon Pie

When I was growing up in Kentucky,
There was only one thing that pleased me,
In my lunch pail each day at school,
My waiting Moon Pie made me drool.

Moon Pie and milk were a kid's delight,
For lunch, a snack or even late at night,
Right before bed and being tucked in,
Chocolate and cream and milk on my chin.

Oh the carefree days of yore,
Gone forever to be found no more,
For eating such a treat today,
Would make my girlish figure go away!

I second the comment on RC cola. It is a must be have with a Moon Pie.

And for 006 as a matter of fact there were some lovely moons in the parade.

Just for the record, moonpie dot com sells them direct.

They have single, double and mini in chocolate, banana and vanilla flavor. Double and mini have additional flavors like strawberry!!!!

Singles are sold by box or case... case is 8 boxes of 12 for $39.95... Sample pack of 12 (4ea flavor) is $11.95

I think I will place an order!!

go to Costco online, or call them, yes moon pie dot com is fun, that's where i got em last time. Big box and then watch out... people will accuse you of being lazy eating moon pies all day long. I don't think they're THAT good but it's good to reminisce.
