Horse Riding Trainer
updated: Jun 23, 2014, 9:00 AM

Any recommendations for a riding stable/trainer that teaches Hunter/Jumper (English saddle), preferably has lesson horses vs. needing to lease and is a fun laid back place that isn't totally focused on showing? Looking to get back in the saddle after many years of not riding so I appreciate any recommendations/advice!

Call Charlie Picerni- great hunter/jumper training and has school horses. Very laid back, reasonable prices, and fun long lessons.

Alanna Bloomberg is wonderful with kids and adults, and is very respected and liked in the riding community. I rode with her for several years and was always impressed by her quality and communication skills.

If you want to go to SYV for riding try Marcia Nelson at Horseman's Hangout on Edison. She is great with adults, both English and Western.

Contact Brie Preston out of Shoreline Farms (Goleta/More Mesa area) 423-4786. Great trainer & rider. She teaches adults & children, and she uses her own horse for lessons. Great laid back barn, not a show barn at all.

Amapola Stables is a great place and has 3 trainers. Linda Pless is great, she has school horses and will teach jumping, dressage or/and trail riding. Her number is 403-3880. She has trained my off track thoroughbred who is now jumping and showing with Linda. She is flexible and not expensive.

Rancho Ravello with trainers Samantha and William Martin are by far the most knowledgable hunter jumper trainers in the area. We've been with them for 4 years. My daughter shows on the A circuit with them. You don't have to show, they have people who just take lessons, but they're amazing. Great barn off San Antonio road. You can call Samantha at (805) 453-0617.
