The Santa Barbara Zoo hosted their annual Hospitality Night and showed off their new Discovery Pavilion.
The Dedicated Staff of edhat.com was happy to visit, explore, and meet Pepe the armadillo!

The new building is 2,300 square feet of classroom space, an art gallery, animal kitchen, volunteer and
staff library, volunteer lounge, and more. There's even a window to the animal kitchen where you can
watch the staff prepare meals. The Zoo raised $7.5 million from the Santa Barbara community and it
opened to the public on March 22nd. It's located where the capybara exhibit used to be, but don't worry,
those fellas are enjoying an even better housing space closer to the kid's area. Did you know the capybara
is the largest rodent in the world?
Pepe the three-banded armadillo was brought out to meet the guests. Although he didn't like to stay still
and kept running in circles, making him hard to photograph. But we learned that he is one of the only
types of armadillos that can fully roll into a ball. He was also named the Zoo Mascot for the FIFA World Cup,
check out his headshot below.
Rincon Catering was on hand to provide delicious snacks. There was a taco bar, pulled pork sandwiches,
mini pizzas, and delicious desserts. A painting by one of the talented and artsy elephants was given away
to a lucky attendee.
The Dedicated Staff could not resist the photo booth fun.
