BEACHBREAK CAFE CELEBRATES A DECADE OF 'OLD SCHOOL' MEALS

Some restaurants have trouble staying open a full year. A Santa Barbara diner between the waterfront and downtown is celebrating its 10th anniversary this week.

The Beachbreak Cafe, open for breakfast and lunch daily, has also just remodeled with a row of new upper level windows to let more sunshine in, just in time for the summer season.

Owner Joe Lyons, who went into the restaurant business after taking courses in the Santa Barbara City College Culinary Department, says he has an "old school" approach, with good food, solid portions and affordable prices. He says food service is his the family too. His mother worked at Harry's Plaza for 20 years. The Beachbreak Cafe was also just featured in a video just shot by the Santa Barbara based band, "Toad the Wet Sprocket."
