Leadership Change at Two Schools
updated: Jun 18, 2014, 8:05 PM

By Santa Barbara Unified School District

The end of the school year is often the time of year when school staff retirements or departures take place. Two leadership positions that will change in 2014-2015 are as follows:

Principal Anne Hubbard is departing Washington Elementary School and will be serving as the new superintendent/principal of the Cayucos Elementary School District, a K-8 district. In a letter to parents, Superintendent Dave Cash said, "Anne Hubbard did a fabulous job as principal at Washington Elementary School and we will do our best to find a great successor."

McKinley School Principal Tia Blickley has retired. Superintendent Cash commented, "I want to publicly acknowledge her dedication to students at McKinley and recognize her many years of service to our community."

In the days ahead, Assistant Superintendent Emilio Handall will be holding a parent meeting at each school to gather ideas on what qualities the district will need to find in the next principal in order to continue to meet the needs of each campus.
