Clear Layer?
updated: Jun 13, 2014, 8:45 AM

By John Wiley

Flying at about 1500 feet I noticed a clear layer in Monday's otherwise somewhat hazy skies, and wondered if Edhat experts can explain. This view up the canyon from Tucker's Grove shows it somewhat, though it was more marked in person. It's that darker band running clear across the pic just above the foothills, about halfway between the ridge and the brown open grasslands beyond the houses.. I've pumped the color some to make it more visible. There wasn't any dramatic difference in temperature winds among the three layers (two hazy, clear in the middle). Anyone have a theory?
