Long Term Closure of On-Ramp
updated: Jun 09, 2014, 9:49 AM
GOLETA - The northbound on-ramp to U.S. Highway 101 at Fairview Avenue will be closed 24/7 for the next 6 to 8 months beginning late Monday night, June 16. Motorists may use the northbound U.S. Highway 101 onramp at Los Carneros Road via Calle Real. Due to construction, one lane of Calle Real will remain open in each direction.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time when traveling through this area. Electronic message boards will assist motorists near the project area.
This ramp closure will allow construction to continue on this project to improve the capacity of two large drainage culverts located along Las Vegas Creek and San Pedro Creek at U.S. Highway 101 near Fairview Avenue in Goleta. This ramp closure will allow for a temporary traffic switch on U.S. Highway 101 later in the project.
This project will also prevent flooding north of Calle Real and U.S. Highway 101. It will also include reconstruction of the U.S. 101 southbound off-ramp at Fairview Avenue.
Caltrans is the lead agency for this project, in partnership with the Santa Barbara County Flood Control District and support from the City of Goleta.
The contractor for this $16.6 million project is Flatiron West Incorporated of San Marcos, CA. This project is expected to be completed in early 2017.
As part of the City of Goleta's Los Carneros Overhead Bridge Replacement project, the southbound Hwy. 101 on/off ramps at Los Carneros Road remain closed until February 2015. Motorists can use Patterson Avenue or State Route 217 to access businesses, the Santa Barbara Regional Airport and UCSB. All local businesses in the Fairview Shopping Center will remain open for business during the project.
