Was it 3:37 am this morning or 3:37 pm yesterday afternoon? UTC is confusing.

Noticed a ceiling fixture inexplicably moving slightly some time late last night. Maybe the one in Soledad? Funny to think about continents basically surfing on magma.

I'm originally from San Francisco. I'm conditioned not to feel anything under 5.0.

Lotsa activity lately, small, but enough that we should be alert and prepared.

It woke me up in Noleta, but not enough to make me open my eyes to see what time it was. It was a quick jolt. Rolled over and back to sleep.

According to earthquake alerts it was a 2.7 m 2.5 miles west of Isla Vista. Verified at 3:37a. Tiny jolt at Calle Real and San Marcos.

Ha! That explains what sounded like an animal jumping onto the roof. I was wide awake then anyway, and there was a sudden, sharp thump shortly after 3:30.

There have been a series of small earthquakes in the ocean off Isla Vista in the last 2 week, maybe 6 or so events. It's always worth considering the possibility that these may be foreshocks of a future, larger quake.

I did ! I thought it was the house settling ... I was reading in bed and felt a little nudge - super tiny. If I had been asleep, there is no way it would've woken me up.

Your preparedness should not be dependent upon your perceived level of current activity or false belief that current activity has anything to do with future activity. You should be prepared because you live in a seismically active area.

LOL Thanks 766 and 835. I was up iin bed reading and I sleep in a water bed, so yes, I noticed it. My clock said 3:34 am. Was not sure if it was an earthquake, or Venaco was doing something :-).

How close to the fracking are these quakes that have been happening over the last couple of weeks? 8 m west of IV, 14 m west of IV, 4 m west of IV.

It would be interesting to know if they are occuring in the same area or adjacent to the fracking. Look at Oaklahoma which is now very seismically active and wasn't before the fracking began. Now they are shaking regularly.

Yes, it woke me up here in Noleta - a quick little sharp jolt. It felt close but, fortunately, small.

Fracking used to be SOP on oil wells until it became a catchy slogan and battle cry for activists...scary word now!

There were 2 small earthquakes about a week ago in Paso Robles & nearer to the ocean near there as well. .......
I myself like to know that the ground under us is settling itself in more frequent "smaller" quakes rather than one LARGE one :-)
