City Budget Incorporates Private Security

The Santa Barbara City Council set aside funds to hire two private security personnel to patrol State Street, reports The Independent. Sergeant Mike McGrew argued the potential for poorly trained security personnel puts the city at risk for future lawsuits. In addition to the State Street security, the council voted to add another full time police officer at $150,000 a year for a total of 143.
