Board Rejects Sheriff Deputy at Chumash

A contract between Chumash Indians and County Sheriff's to provide more law enforcement was rejected by the County Board of Supervisors, reports KEYT.

The Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians states they worked with Sheriff Bill Brown to create a contract that provides $850,000 annually for one 24-hours-a-day deputy. Supervisors vote 3-2 on Tuesday to reject the proposal.
