Roosevelt Elementary Lockdown
updated: Jun 04, 2014, 3:25 PM

By Edhat Subscriber

Roosevelt Elementary School was put on "lockdown" around 3:05 ... does anyone know why?

More information provided by an Edhat subscriber:

Drove by Roosevelt school and on the nearest side street there were at least 9 squad cars. There was an officer outside of Roosevelt with a semi automatic weapon in his hands.

Students in an afternoon program at Roosevelt elementary school were asked to stay in the auditorium until police investigated a report of a gunman on a roof. (06/05/14)

Did the officer have a semi-automatic pistol or a semi-automatic rfle? If a rifle, was it a semi-automatic assault rifle? Just curious and trying to figure out the definition of each.

200, the last day of school this year is tomorrow (Thursday). It is traditionally an early release day.

Friday is not a "day off," it is a staff working day at the schools to clean out classrooms, ready them for summer, return textbooks, take inventory, organize files etc to get ready for the fall when school starts again.

214, there are rigorous definitions of all the terms you mention but sadly they will probably remain murky forevermore in the minds of most people due to constant misuse in the media.

Rodger, you are a great teacher. Don't let me tell you otherwise.

214 almost all guns are semi automatic. The other styles are bolt action and single shot. Single shot are either cheap entry level for kids or super high end for target. So if you say ban all semi auto you are saying ban 95% of guns.

Think the corporate media has got their viewers paranoid enough????

You should see the looks I get just walking to my car to go shooting at the gun club.

336--So you'd call a revolver a semi-auto? (Technically, I don't think it is.)

Yes 463, a revolver is a semi- auto firearm.

Since, on a modern revolver, pulling the trigger is responsible for cocking the gun, it's not semi-auto.
